MARKED: Ink, Women, Legacy. This project is deeply personal to me. As an Indigenous designer, I’ve always been drawn to the ways our stories are carried — not just in words, but in symbols, marks, and memory. Tattoos have long been part of Indigenous women’s identity, used to record lineage, strength, and belonging.
Cultural Context + Concept.
Through MARKED, I explored how these traditions were nearly erased by colonialism — and how their revival today represents resilience, reclamation, and pride. The magazine celebrates tattoos not as trends, but as acts of survival and self-definition.
Design Process + Reflection.
Designing this piece was emotional and grounding. Every layout, texture, and type choice was meant to feel lived-in — imperfect, layered, and real. For me, it’s a tribute to the women who carried their stories on their skin when the world tried to silence them.
